Victory for STEP TO PEARL Project

The fourth STEP (Social Transformation through Environmental Program) to PEARL (Protect Earth Always Remember Life) Project for the Office of the Vice Governor another success!

Vice Governor Pearl Erguiza Pacada, who is known for her being a strong environmentalist monthly conducts tree planting activities for the fight against climate change. Vice Governor Pearl Pacada shares that “the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, but the second best time is now!”

This is why the Office of the Vice Governor conducts monthly tree planting programs to influence organizations and individuals in the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change; and on July 27, 2012, VG Pearl, together with the officials and school heads of Gosood, Mayantoc, planted over 300 seedlings at Gosood Elementary School.

Along with the Vice Governor are Municipal Councilor Garma, Barangay Capt. Salmo, SK members, the Police Force of Mayantoc, DepEd District Supervisor Rustico Corpuz and the students and teachers of Gosood Elementary School, headed by Principal Salvador Cansino. Girl Scouts-Tarlac Council also joined in planting the fruit bearing seedlings.

Vice Governor Pearl Pacada said in her speech that as the trees are planted, they have also planted life. She also reminded all the participants that caring for the environment doesn’t stop with just planting trees, we should also learn to recycle in our homes and community, and we should all be disciplined in proper throwing of trash.

It was also the choice of Vice Governor Pearl Pacada to conduct the tree planting on the elementary school to involve the children at the advocacy for environmental protection. “We should protect the environment for our children, but we should involve our children in this concern. This way, we are assured that they will pass on the love for Mother Earth to their children as well.”

During the said event, Vice Governor Pearl also gave away Pearl duffel bags with school supplies to the elementary pupils and to children who are present in the area. About 100 duffel bags have been distributed during the event.

The STEP (Social Transformation through Environmental Program) to PEARL (Protect Earth Always Remember Life) Advocacy of Vice Governor Pearl Pacada will involve a series of events for the coming months that aim to promote environmental protection and information dissemination on the fight against climate change.
